Notes from a Small Island: Guess Who's Cooking for Dinner? |

Part of my holiday was used to test some recipes on our party of friends. With the help of Pam's emergency Cuisinart, I whipped up a menu that included the following dishes developed by yours truly:
Black Bean and Mango-Cilantro Salsa
Fresh Classic Salsa
Soy-Scallion Glazed Chicken Drummettes
Ginger Lamb Chops
Finger Sandwiches: Coronation Chicken with Mustard Butter, Cucumber and Scallion Cream Cheese, and Roast Beef with Stilton Aïoli
Roasted Red Pepper and Eggplant Purée with Grilled Pita
Fresh Classic Guacamole
White Bean and Rosemary Spread with Sun-Dried Tomatoes
Mmm, sounds good, doesn't it? Tasted even better. Do you want the recipes? Well, wait for Chow to hit the newstands in November and you can have those recipes and more.
I did some other cooking too. We bought a boned leg of island lamb at a trip to the weekend farmer's market and tried out some local prawns. I'll have more on that later.
Also -- and quite exciting -- I wrote a few pieces at MSNBC.COM. Check out my "Guilty Pleasures" in the form of Sweet Valley High books and Trashy Cheese and Air Supply. "Here I am, the one that you love, asking for another day-ay-ay!"
